“Paper
Daisies”
In this drawing I have depicted the illusion of a piece of paper with a
daisy cut out. The simplicity of this image makes it one of my favorites.
It was rendered with charcoal shading for the background, graphite for the
wrinkles in the paper, and carbon pencils for the tape. One of the most
difficult aspects of this drawing was to create the illusion of the white
cut out on top of the white paper.
"Paper
Daisies" is
now available as a 16”x 12” limited edition print. This is a limited edition of 750.
To
reproduce the extremely subtle
value changes in this drawing I am using a new method of printing called a Piezograph
Giclee. The result is a high quality reproduction that is nearly
indistinguishable from the original drawing. This printing method is a
little more
costly than traditional off set lithography but I feel the result is well
worth it. You will swear that the tape and paper are three dimensional!
