Trompe L'oeil Drawing

"Steal A Kiss"

I like the juxtaposition of mixing the impossible with the illusion of reality. Here it is assumed that a favorite chocolate has been cut out of a piece of paper. It somehow has become real enough to unwrap and take. The sense of reality is challenged again when the familiar narrow strip of paper that normally protrudes from the candy becomes real enough to come right out of the picture.

The entire image is drawn on white watercolor paper.  I used charcoal for the darker values of the mat and background, graphite for the subtle shading of the paper wrinkles, and a carbon pencil for the masking tape and tin foil.
